Principles and practice of life and pension business

Course Description

The life and pension business practice course is designed to introduce the students to what life and pension business insurance coverage is, how it works, and suitability in an individual's overall financial plan. The course will cover topics in retirement planning introduces students to the questions about just how people will pay for their retirement.  Retirement is now considered a phase of our lives and the latest statistics indicate that most people who retired in past would go back to villages and look forward to time spent in retirement. However, things are changing with urbanization and the need to develop schemes and formal financial plan.  The course focuses on how to prepare for retirement and what one can do with your time. 

Objectives

  1. To appreciate the concepts of life insurance and identify various policy types of insurance.
  2. To analyze life insurance needs and apply best method approaches when selecting insurance policies to meet said needs.
  3. To understand pension schemes and how they operate

 Leaning outcomes

By successfully completing this course, students will:

  1. Have knowledge of the life policies in Uganda
  2. Have knowledge of the principles and practice of risk underwriting in the life insurance policies
  3. Have an understanding of the regulatory procedures for the life insurance policies
  4. To appreciate the different retirement schemes and plan for retirement.
