Insurance business and Finance

Course Description

The objective of this unit is to develop knowledge and understanding of the fundamental principles and practices of Insurance business and finance practice. This course includes the provision of topics developed to support a thorough understanding of the insurance business and financial management. It will provide the knowledge and understanding of the structure of the insurance business, key aspects of management and financial management of the insurance firms.

 Course Objectives

Students will be able to:

1. Understand the structure of the insurance business
2. Understand the role and operation of business in the insurance industry.
3. Understand financial management theory and concepts and their application to the insurance industry.
4. Understand the financial ratios to assess the insurance business
5. Analyze and develop a business and financial management strategy for insurance firms

Learning outcomes

At the end of the course the students should be able to:

1. Demonstrate the insurance business and operations
2. Undertake financial management of the insurance firms
3. Implement the different insurance strategies
