Course Description

This course is designed to empower students with the expertise and abilities necessary to proficiently apply and act upon research findings. Participants will develop the skills to critically analyze literature and data pertaining to emerging trends in the insurance industry, enabling them to formulate strategic recommendations grounded in scientific reasoning. The program fosters an active learning environment and encourages 205 collaborative study, allowing participants to undertake an original project or research paper. The objective is to contribute meaningfully to the enhancement of knowledge and practices within their specific domains in the insurance sector.

Course objectives

The objectives of the course include:

  1. Investigate the characteristics, objectives, and extent of research.
  2. Elaborate on academic literacies such as problem statements, literature reviews, and theoretical frameworks, emphasizing their significance in organizing research endeavors, illustrated with practical examples from the insurance sector.
  3. Examine the various elements of the research process, providing practical examples from the insurance sector.
  4. Formulate a project or research paper with the potential to contribute to the advancement of new knowledge or practices within the insurance sector. 

Expected learning outcomes

After undertaking this course, the student will be able to:

  1. Apply research concepts to effectively synthesize, illustrate, and articulate intricate managerial challenges within the insurance sector in a clear, coherent, and precise manner.
  2. Employ research knowledge and skills with confidence to make crucial strategic decisions concerning emerging trends in the insurance sector. 
  3. Utilize pertinent literature and data to propose innovative strategic areas for enhancing industry practices.
  4. Actively participate in the development, evaluation, and presentation of research at a strategic level, contributing to practical benefits.
  5. Formulate a thesis.
